Are you READY for the SPOTLIGHT?

I’m asking because even if you’re not excited about getting more exposure (media or otherwise), it kind of comes with the territory of owning your BIG MISSION and making a difference.

Many years ago the Dalai Lama made a bold statement.  During the Vancouber Peace Summit in 2009 he said “The world will be saved by the western woman.”  It’s a tall order and there could be some truth to that because women do business differently.

There are three universal truths about running a business

1. Owning a business isn’t for the faint of heart

2. When you have a BIG MISSION you will constantly be pushed to share it in bigger ways than you ever imagined (even if you always dreamed of being in the spotlight)

3. When you own a business you have a minimum of two roles A) Working your magic B) Marketing your magic

Part of marketing your magic means you need to be ready for the spotlight because it’s your responsibility (duty really) to share your message in a BIG WAY. After all, it’s about facilitating change right? AND change can be uncomfortable, but that’s when we know we’re exactly where we need to be. When we’re being pushed (especially past our own comfort zone and limitations) we know we’re getting closer to where we want to be.

I knew my philosophies (specifically the NEW marketing model for success as seen in Inc. Magazine) were going to be featured in the book Wonder Women: How Western Women Will Save the World co-written by my fabulous colleagues Jessica Eaves Mathews and Phil Dyer. I even perused the advance copy. BUT when the real deal arrived in my mailbox earlier than expected AND my philosophies are noted right up there with Richard Branson, Arianna Huffington, Jessica Jackley (founder of Kiva), Lisa Nichols and so many more… (WOW — how cool is that?!) — I was deeply humbled and I knew it’s time to own my message in a much bigger way.

I’m sharing this with you because this didn’t happen by accident. It happened because I have a BIG vision, a clear mission and a plan to make it happen. This isn’t always the case and that’s exactly why we need to surround ourselves with people who are going to move us forward.
