Do you dream of working and playing anywhere you desire?  In order for this to happen, you’ll need to have some tech tools in place to help you leverage your time, location and situation. Here are 5 tools that help me work and play anywhere I choose. These tips can help you create a freedom based business model to support your lifestyle. 1) Secure a designated bridge line to host calls and make sure you have a backup service just in case. I use FreeConferencePro.com as my main bridge line. This allows me to call in and connect with clients no matter where I am. Scheduling client calls via the bridge line also creates clear boundaries. 2) Get a 1-800 so people can call and leave messages that are forwarded to you wherever you are. I use […]

Q: “I struggle with my elevator pitch what do you suggest?” This question was asked during a live training/speaking session by a participant and then a lively discussion about this occurred on Facebook. So, I’m addressing it here. On Facebook a savvy and sassy colleague said “This afternoon. A lunchtime networking event. 20 women. 20 elevator pitches as we introduce ourselves. My mind is numb by the 10th “I help….ideal client…who has a struggle with…so that…” This is a common scenario and it’s clear that people are done being pitched in bland, vanilla ways. A: So, what about the elevator pitch? Don’t do it! I firmly believe the elevator pitch is DEAD. I think it takes deep listening to acknowledge what people really want. It also requires a bit of mystique at times. Each struggle is different even […]

In the ever evolving landscape 0f business and marketing, it’s important to BE the media. This means you can no longer solely rely on traditional media outlets to share your message (although, depending on your strategy, they should be a part of your mix). The foundation of profitability begins with building relationships and business growth with content. Today you must become your own brand evangelist and create buzz yourself.  This starts with solid content (otherwise know as copy – this is the heart of your marketing message) and a clear strategy to reach your goals.  Phoebe Chongchua is no stranger to media and the influence it can create. She’s the host of The Brand Journalism Advantage radio show on iTunes and it was my pleasure to be interviewed by her.  Phoebe knows her stuff and I think […]

Today I’d like you to think about your website and seriously consider how it’s working for you, your business and your clients Do you ever feel like online marketing is one BIG puzzle and you’re missing one or more of the pieces?  If this is true for you, you are NOT alone. In fact, you may be missing crucial pieces to the online marketing puzzle AND you may just need to make some subtle adjustments to increase your profits and get RESULTS. It’s quite possible that you had your website designed (maybe even designed it yourself) and thought once you launched it, the profits would pour in. The TRUTH is, that probably didn’t happen. Here’s why. Unless you have created  a strategy to achieve specific revenue goals, they are not going to magically happen just because you have […]

Regardless of the time of year it’s important to assess or reassess your business goals and objective. With that in mind,  I have three questions for you… • Are you where you hoped you’d be in your life and business at this point? • Do you have clear intentions about what you’d like to achieve in your business and your life? • Who is going to hold you accountable? I’ve been pondering planning A LOT lately. One of the concepts I teach in my POWER Planning Process is the idea of pliability. Pliability is important when creating your plan because it allows for course correction, challenging the norm and doing things differently. As you grow in your personal life and in your business focus, there needs to be room for pliability. There also need to be room for […]

What if I told you I’m NOT a copywriter? You might think… “Lisa, that’s crazy talk. You’ve named a new copywriting and marketing formula, “Challenge. Solution, Invitation.™” that actually VOICES what everyone has been feeling about standard, manipulative formulas. You’ve been featured in Inc. Magazine and #1 bestselling books about this — are you nuts?!” OR — you may have actually worked with me and You might think… “Yes, I can see that because although we were working on web copy, you provided mentoring, consulting and ideas that made me even more money and got me real results.” Either way, there is truth to the statement that I am not a copywriter. The truth is, with over two decades of experience, I’m a mentor, coach (although for some reason I don’t love that title), consultant, strategist, PR pro and […]

First and foremost I think it’s really important to be clear that any of the “get rich quick schemes” are just that, schemes. The beauty in this truth is that you probably already know this and you likely have magic to share with the world. Your magic is where your money is and your connections are where the cash is. Yet, sometimes we forget this. We get overwhelmed. The reality and responsibilities of life rain down on us and it can feel really frustrating when cash flow isn’t consistent. When this happens, my best advice is to take a deep breath and center yourself in the knowledge that it will be OK and you can create a simple plan to generate cash fast (and in the long-run this will help you establish consistent cash flow). This is […]

Your word IS your honor. This seems simple and yet it is rather complex. Your words are the foundation of how you choose to show up in life. In fact, a thought becomes a bright idea and when put in writing, words turn ideas into action.  That’s powerful. Your words are powerful. Your thoughts and your words are developed in accordance to your worldview. Your family, friends, the government, media, school systems, your individual experiences, and your interaction with society shape your worldview. Beyond that, your word revolves around your personal values. Your personal values are determined by the meaningful elements of your collective worldview that matter most to you individually. Your values then shape your integrity and they drive all that you do personally and professionally. In general, integrity means the quality of being honest and […]

There are five KEY elements to business success, growth and seizing opportunity. 1. Have a BIG vision and clear intentions for the outcome 2. Take inspired action 3. Get help 4. Follow through 5. Leverage the outcome to support your BIG vision Here’s the rub. Often we overlook opportunity because we are not thinking BIG enough, we’re not clear about our intended outcome or we simply don’t take action. AND we don’t think beyond what “appears” to be possible (think about that for a minute and you might even want to journal about it…). Here’s a specific example that might help you seize future opportunities. The California Women’s Conference offered their first Virtual Stage competition in celebration of the 29th CWC. The Virtual Stage is the brainchild of Michelle Patterson and designed to offer individualized resources, conversation […]

Often, not knowing how to ask for what you want is exactly what’s preventing you from reaching your goals. What is one of the biggest lessons you’ve ever learned from a past position, resource or your current work? Many years ago I worked in radio sales and became a certified Radio Marketing Master through the Radio Advertising Bureau.  As I look back on over two decades of experience that spans the mediums (radio, print, TV, direct mail, online marketing – -you name it, I’ve likely had experience doing it) one thing stands out. The biggest lesson I ever learned (and probably the most valuable) is how to ask for what I want.  I still remember my sales manager in radio saying “ask you get -don’t you won’t”. She was right and it reminds me of another resource […]
