When Jennifer Young was transferred by Shopko to manage the Pullman store in February 2001 - and her husband transferred to Lewiston to be assistant manager of that store - it was a big change from life in Quincy, Ill.

Young and her husband, Kevin, welcomed the change, but found that establishing a household, starting jobs in a new area, commuting to work and working in different towns left little time to develop friendships.

It was by chance that Young was introduced to Beta Sigma Phi.

When was the last time you had a truly phenomenal customer service experience?

When was the last time someone you know shared a story about wonderful customer service?

Were you able to recall a truly positive experience without having to think too far back?  If so, that’s great!  I encourage you to share that experience.

The sad truth is that most people will probably recall a poor customer service incident before they recall a great experience.

Like many people I know, New Year’s came and went for me without the creation of a New Year’s resolution list.  Instead, I’ve decided to resolve to be a better person all around and to live by my guiding principles.
  
It’s not as if I haven’t been doing this all along.  But I figure it’s a lot easier to reach the broad goal of being a better person than having to check off a list of resolutions I know I should keep but won’t.  You know the ones – exercise, eat healthier, etc.

To me, being a better person involves many things.  I’ve decided to focus on just a few.  Faith, family, and giving back to the community are three important elements I’m starting with.

Frequently I am asked, “What do you do for a living?” My reply varies, yet usually starts with, “I work at an advertising agency.”

There are few individuals who understand what that means, usually because they’re in the business, too.

I’ve found that there seems to be a certain mystique about what advertising agencies do. Many people look at me quizzically and inquire further, “What do you do there?”
