Copy Q & A ~ Tom Buford Interviews Lisa Manyon of Write On~Creative Writing Services, LLC.

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

What the heck is copy? This is a question I still get and all too frequently. It’s seems kind of like an oxymoron for a copywriter to be asked what copy is — BUT there are many people who don’t understand the importance of copywriting let alone what copy means.  AND, that’s OK — it takes time to get all the advertising and marketing lingo down.

So, I’ll break it down: content (copy) is sometimes treated as an afterthought and this is one of the biggest marketing mistakes around.  In short, copy is the written part of any marketing, advertising and promotional material. It’s the message that connects (or should connect) your products or services with your ideal market.

It’s important to really think about your content and have a strategy for all of your marketing and advertising materials. There are specific formulas, tricks of the trade and styles that will help you craft the most effective message to get results.  You can choose to learn more about copywriting so you can write your own copy or you can take the time to select the best copywriting for your project.

Either way, here’s a quick Copy Q & A where Tom Buford interviews me about copy.

Remember that it’s VITAL to find the right copywriter for your projects. Someone who can craft copy that really represents your voice. If you already have your copy written it’s always a good idea to have a professional review it and give you pointers.

For example: I offer a Manyon Marketing Web Makeover where I’ll review your site & give you feedback to improve your copy and/or web flow to really connect with clients. This recent feedback from a client reinforces how important it is to choose the right person for the job.

“Lisa Manyon has the unique ability to immediately grasp your unique essential message. She then shapes your site into a mirror reflection of that message communicated in a way that will engage your target audience. I’ve spent a fortune and many weeks and months trying to achieve what Lisa was able to provide in one hour. Master your opportunity with Lisa. Consider a Manyon Marketing Web Makeover a well placed investment in yourself that will deliver an immediate R.O.I.:

Discover No Cost to Low Cost Online Press Release & Internet Publicity Strategies

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

One of my greatest passions is helping you get the publicity you deserve. If you know anything about you’ll know that I’m one of the few people who really loves to write press releases and create strategies so they really work of you.

Here’s a quick video from Lorrie’s She Factor Marketing to Women live event. I had the honor to be featured as the Press Release Case Study. One quick note: Although I have personally incorporated Internet publicity tips into my marketing mix to get publicity and promote myself, your press releases should not sound “promotional” or be written in a pitchy way.

Do you have any pressing questions about online press releases and Internet publicity strategies? If so, ask here and I’ll answer.

Three Ways to Prepare for Internet Publicity Before You Submit Your First Press Release

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010
Inevitably there will come a time where publicity needs to be a part of your marketing mix. You may opt for mainstream media publicity or Internet publicity. Either way, you need a solid platform to promote yourself and to be accessible when publicity opportunities come your way.

Often clients will contact me to invest in press release writing services. While I’m always happy to help (I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, writing press releases), I do have to ask some questions to make sure this isn’t a waste of their time or mine.
First, you  need to have a strategy. If there is no strategy in place then we first need to make sure the press release goals are clear before we get started. We also need to make sure the business is ready for publicity.
If there is a strategy in place it’s usually a strategy to gain Internet publicity or mainstream media attention (although sometimes it can consist of both).

If the press release is meant to gain Internet publicity by driving visitors to your website, educating about your upcoming teleclass or event or perhaps even getting the attention of bloggers, your strategy will be different than, say, getting mainstream media attention for your newly published book.
Regardless of your reason for wanting publicity, there are three foundations you need to have in place before you issue your press release – no matter what your strategy.

  1. Web site: Your website needs to be clear, concise and portray your business in the best way possible. Think of your website as your welcome mat for clients, customers and the media. Is it inviting? Do you make a clear offer to show visitors what their next step is? If you’re not sure, you might consider investing in a Manyon Marketing Web Makeover.  Or, if you need to create the content for your site, a 5 Page Web Package is perfect.
  2. Online Media Kit: The Online Media Kit is the new industry standard, especially if you’re interested in Internet Publicity. Online media kits saves time, money and hold all of your important information and qualifications that the media, event promoters/coordinators and anyone wanting to do business with you might need. You can have your web person create a media page for you but I recommend Instant Media Kit. You view my online media kit here. If you’d like more information about Instant Media Kit, follow my link.
  3. Professional Bio: Your bio is an important tool for your publicity efforts. In fact, it’s important to have several options available depending on your needs. If you’re being considered for a television host position, you might need a long bio that tells all about your journey. If you have a speaking engagement booked you may need a short bio that gives a highlight of your qualifications. If you’re a guest on a teleseminar a mini bio is all that’s needed. So, I recommend that you craft a long, short and mini bio. If you need help, I do offer a bio packages.
To recap, when you’ve decided you want publicity, you need to have a strategy and a solid website, an online media kit and a professional bio. Once you have all of these items in place, you’re ready to get the publicity you deserve.
