What Are You Hiding Behind?
I believe 2010 is the turnaround year for many businesses, yours included. So, I want to keep fueling the conversation about what has been working in your business and what hasn’t or isn’t. I’m also sharing some really personal insights about what works for me and what doesn’t work for me and I want to hear from you.
Not only do I want? I want to hear about what has and hasn’t been working for you, I want to? let you know about a program that can help you restructure your business for success that really feels good to you and ultimately helps others (but we’ll get to that in a? minute) .
If you are at the make it or break it point in your business and you’ve felt like throwing in the towel, this is perfect for you.
In the spirit of transparency I‘m going to share one of the mistakes I was making in my business in 2009. I was hiding behind positive thoughts. Now, you may be wondering how “positive thoughts”can be a mistake. Here’s what I mean.
I am firm believer in creating my own reality. And, in doing so, I use positive thinking to keep myself on track, realign my beliefs around money and generally move myself towards a better place mentally. That probably sounds good and it is to a certain degree. The mistake I made was focusing solely on the reality I have created for myself and not fully appreciating how the economy has really affected many businesses, families and our Country.
In fact, one of my biggest pet peeves of 2009 was the phrase “in this economy….” I really felt like people were focusing too much on the doom and gloom when in reality, financial strain was and still is reality for many people. Once that light bulb went on and I realized that my positive thinking was not enough to change the reality for everyone else, I changed the way I was doing business.
I took some drastic actions that included tearing my business down in order to build it back up. This included a website and image revamp for me but it could be that your business only needs some minor tweaks to get to where you really want to be.
That’s why I think it’s important to carve out some time and tune into what Christine Kloser and Molly Luffy have to say.
