What Makes You Tick? Examining Responses…And a quick reminder about a cool, free event for women writers!

Within the past few weeks, I sent a special announcement to subscribers to my ezine (electronic newsletter) list. The announcement shared one of the secrets to my success – The National Association of Women Writers. Basically they have a really cool – FREE- promo coming up. Anyway, I try to provide information of value to the people who trust me with their email and read what I have to say.

Not everyone appreciated this announcement. In fact, I received a scathing email request from a subscriber (well, former subscriber now). This gentleman was offended I would send him information about an organization geared towards women, he insisted there must not be an association for men writers and is pretty sure if there were, women would force their way in.

Hmmmm… interesting response to say the least.

Luckily, even with only one cup of coffee in me, I found this extremely amusing. (Yep, not usually a morning person and definitely hooked on java).

None the less, I always like to see what makes people tick. The person who was ticked off also demanded I REMOVE him from my list.

This made me giggle, too.

As a woman, I’m happy to help (it’s kinda in my nature and why I share free resources). I went ahead and clicked that little unsubscribe button for him and thanked him for providing great fodder for blogging.

Some may have been offended by the negative response. I was flattered and HIGHLY amused. I’ve heard Ali Brown and Lorrie Morgan-Ferrero both say you haven’t really hit the big time till you get some hate mail.

Yeah! I have arrived.

But, seriously, it’s interesting to see how people respond. I suppose I could issue an apology to all the men on my list. Problem is, I’m not sorry. I’ll continue to reference resources I’ve tapped to help me grow.

In fact, if you hurry, you can still catch the NAWW tele-summit here.
