Published February 24th Lewiston Tribune ~Celebrate the Family

The loss of loved ones is not a topic many people like to discuss. In general, society is uncomfortable with this loss. However, death has a very real impact on those who knew and loved the departed.

Death impacts us all in specific and unique ways and each person deals with loss individually. There is no right or wrong way to grieve but having support of friends, family and trained professionals can help move us through grief.

Losing loved ones is particularly impactful to children and often their grief is forgotten or overlooked in the process. With so much going on and family members feeling their own grief, children may not receive the support they need.

That?€™s where Willow Center for Grieving Children steps in. (more…)

My logo, which is just one element of my brand, (if you’re interested to learn the difference between a logo and brand, I encourage you to check out my eBook Proven Techniques to Recognize Avoid and Correct 4 Common Marketing Mistakes http://writeoncreative.com/blog/biz/), is trademarked. I received my official United States of America Certificate of Registration from the Patent and Trademark Office and I’m pretty excited about it.

The logo and business name Write On ~ Creative Writing Services, LLC. ?® has actually been trademarked since November 21st of 2006. It’s taken me a while to write about it but I don’t feel too badly about that since I originally filed my request in September of 2005 and the government took about one year to approve it. The entire process is really rather interesting. (more…)

People continually ask me how I?€™m able to accomplish all of the things that I do. Truthfully, I sometimes wonder that myself. But, ultimately, I know it?€™s because I?€™m a planner.

To some extent we all multi-task and have numerous responsibilities that can, at times, seem overwhelming. The key is to learn how to manage the responsibility by planning for it. Believe it or not, day to day activities are less stressful when you implement a plan.

I must confess that I enjoy planning. (more…)

Where?€™s the Profit in Non-Profit? ~

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

By Lisa Manyon www.writeoncreative.com

This question has been posed to me by many colleagues who are baffled that I regularly donate an insane amount of time to my favorite non-profit organizations. Make no mistake, there is profit in non-profits. Those profits are merely funneled back into the programs to benefit the particular cause and as the awareness of the need increases, support increases, cash flow increases and the programs grow.

Non-Profit Success Tool ~

By: Lisa Manyon www.writeoncreative.com

With extensive non-profit experience ranging from general volunteerism, management of non-profit outreach and assistance programs as well as board member roles, The One Page Business Plan for Non-Profit Organizations is one of the best tools I?€™ve seen. While serving as board chairperson for the non profit organization Willow Center for Grieving Children, I was able to triple the income in three years by utilizing my own expertise coupled with the precision of One Page Business Plan techniques. We?€™ve recently hired our first ever, paid Executive Director who will receive a copy of The One Page Business Plan for Non-Profit Organizations to take our organization to greater levels of success. I have no doubt that the assessment and accountability tools will serve as vital roadmap to future accomplishment.

If you?€™re looking for a tool that effectively marries the heart-based volunteers who work directly with non-profit program participants and the business-minded board members responsible for administrative tasks, this book is for you.

Feeling a Little Bit Country ~

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

This month I’m feeling a little bit country. In honor of a dear and recently departed friend, Ron Hovey, I’m recommending Tim McGraw’s Live Like You Were Dying and Emerson Drive’s Countrified albums.

Check out the title track Live Like You Were Dying from McGraw because it reminds me that Ron had true spirit and embraced every day he had to the fullest even though he had no idea when his last day might be and Good Man from Emerson Drive because, well, the title says it all.

Click on the links that follow, to zip over to Amazon.com and take a listen. Scroll down the page when you get there and you can hear what I’m talking about.
