Wow! Life is good. I’m so excited about the launch of my new website. Seattle Design Group has such talent! Since, my site is now complete, I thought it would be timely to share a few thoughts regarding websites and e-commerce in general.
First, having a website may not be the best thing for all businesses. It’s definitely not a good idea if you don’t have an actual plan for your site. I’m not discounting the effectiveness of e-commerce or the importance of having a web presence. I’m just pointing out, that if you are going to have a site, it’s important to do it right.
I’ve seen businesses jump on the technology bandwagon and post a poorly designed site with weak copy only to be sorely disappointed. That’s why I hired a professional web design firm to do the job.
I’ve had a few people ask why I hired outside talent instead of utilizing someone locally. The answer is two-fold. For the past two years I’ve been bound by a non-compete prohibiting me from working in my area of expertise in the local market. Because of this I’ve developed business partnerships outside of our own market. In fact, I’ve done work for Seattle Design Group and the payment from that work positively impacted our local economy.
It makes good business sense to have partnerships throughout the United States and beyond.
We do have talented local designers and I plan to partner with them on various projects as well. My friends at Northwest Media Productions recently won a statewide advertising award for one of their business to business (B2B) sites.
The internet provides global opportunities.
Are you ready?
