How long have you been in business?
I’m genuinely curious because this month we’re celebrating 12 years in business for Write On Creative. AND to be fully transparent, it hasn’t always been a cake walk, although there has been some great cake along the way.
I remember what it took to get to where I am today. This included:
*bootstrapping to build my business
*working a part-time day job to fund my business
*trying to figure out who to trust
*learning hard lessons
*celebrating big triumphs
*experiencing the roller coaster of inconsistent cash flow
*considering throwing in the towel or getting a job (after I’d let go of the part-time day job)
The list goes on…
You see running a business isn’t for the faint of heart. Although I have a deep passion for what I do, I am very transparent about my journey. There were times when I made less than one figure a month (yes, you read that right — ZERO profit) and times when I raked in over five figures in one month.
I remember when Write On Creative was still really young and the six figure craze hit. I watched as people claimed to make six figures and really they were reporting gross earnings not net profit. I shied away from marketing the money and instead focused on the results.
My motto has always been service first (with appropriate boundaries, of course).
There were times that I felt like a fraud (like when I helped a client map out a million dollar plan when I’d never broken a million– but you know what, she did, with my help).
During the dark times when I wanted to give up (and there have been plenty of those times), one thing kept me going. Well, actually two (service and faith). But I want to focus on FAITH right now.
Last year I shared 11 tips from being in business 11 years. They are great tips. You can click here to read my article on LinkedIn http://bit.ly/11BizTips (feel free to share if it feels right). As I thought about what to add for this year… I realized that FAITH is what has really helped me persevere the darkest days (faith and a really awesome support system of people who love me and believe in me).
Interestingly enough, I became a bestselling co-author in a compilation book called Success Rituals 2.0. My chapter titled 5 Ways to Guarantee Success, Personally, Professionally and Spiritually, embodies FAITH. I find this interesting because my first time as a bestselling offer happened when I shared the foundation of what supports us at the core level.
To celebrate the 12 year anniversary of Write On Creative and keeping the FAITH, I’m gifting YOU the chapter I wrote and an audio to inspire. Click this link to claim my birthday gift to YOU http://writeoncreative.com/guarantee-success/ (no strings or opt in– just download the article and audio, read and listen).
Keep the FAITH. And when you have dark days, take a listen to this audio and read this article. http://writeoncreative.com/guarantee-success/
I’d love to hear some of your tips that help YOU guarantee success? How long have YOU been in business? Post them here in the comment area?
