• Ask Lisa Your Burning QuestionsThis multi-layered question comes from one of my savvy Write On Creative Community members, Sandra Joyce. She’s growing her copywriting business and, like many start-ups, is feeling the pull of  the many hats business owners need to wear. Her focus is the healthcare industry and she has years of experience within that industry.

Q1: How do I get clients?

Q2: How can I brand and position my services  on my website to showcase what makes me unique so people want to work with me?

A1: Getting clients is one of the most important parts of running your business. First, be really clear on who you want to serve. Make sure to build relationships with businesses within the healthcare industry that align with your values and business mission. Second, fine-tune your marketing message to speak to your ideal clients. Make the calls.

A2: Your brand is the overall essence of your business. It’s the promise you make to the world. So, everything you do must reflect this. From image (logo), to web design, to content, to customer service, strategy, and, most important, your marketing message. Be sure to showcase your expertise in the healthcare industry and speak directly to your ideal clients in a way that showcased your value proposition (think results — how will working with you save them time, money and capture their voice so they can serve more people).

I also recommend that you revisit your Copywriting Action Plan and the special savings on my self-study courses to help you get clear on your ideal clients and strategically plan your web flow and content ( Note: these savings are only available to the Write On Community and you’ll find the info the Copywriting Action Plan).  Once you’ve done that, circle back around and let me know if you have more Q’s?

    1. Lisa, I completely agree with the importance of writing down your plan and then working your plan as a way to success!

        Mary Ellen,

Agreed. Too few people fail to create a plan, let alone execute the plan. Many feel planning is too permanent when in reality, your plan is your plan, plans are pliable and can be course corrected at anytime.

        Thanks for playing.

    2. Lisa, I love your articles! I agree that finding her ideal client and where they hang out is job 1. Branding is so important and it helps reinforce you are a professional.

    3. I have a question about branding. How long does it usually take to get branding work done with a client from start to finish?

    4. Mitch Tublin says:

      Lisa,
Every business owner should have a written plan.
This plan should be revisited often. It is not written
in stone. If changes are necessary the reasons should be
analyzed and the changes should be made to the plan.

    5. Jessica says:

The three main ways I get clients is through live speaking events, networking events, and client referrals. Because I’ve been reading Lisa’s blog for years, I’m already following the advice she’s given here…

        Jessica,

I love how you have a variety of ways to reach your prime prospects and entice them to become paying customers.

It’s always smart to have more than one way to connect.
