During the holiday season GIFTS are on the brain. You either love this time of year or you’re not that wild about it. There doesn’t seem to be a happy medium.
Personally I love the traditions. My tree is a special joy and last year I didn’t put it up so I’m really enjoying it this year (that’s another story). I’m also getting in the spirit by breaking out the holiday cookie recipes and doing some baking. This includes my Oma’s Russian Tea Cake recipe (yummy).
On the other hand, I am grossed out by all the commercialism and consumerism during this time. I know, I know… THIS, coming from a marketing person. It’s true, I’d like to see more tradition and less hype and don’t even get me started on the inflatable, plastic yard ornaments (TACKY — almost as tacky as adding someone to your mailing list without permission and makes me wish I had a Red Ryder). This all ties into why I’m so passionate about marketing with integrity.
But something really cool happened in the way of GIFTS. I was gifted to someone by another amazing friend, colleague and client (funny how all of these roles tend to intertwine when you’re attracting the RIGHT clients). Let me explain. A preferred client (and yes, friend and colleague) experienced working with me one-on-one and knew I (or rather the services I provide) am the right solution for one of her clients. So, she placed an order for my program How to Create Marketing Messages With Integrity and some one-on-one strategy time and GIFTED me to her client. I was honored and really blessed by this gracious act. AND I am humbled by the BIG shifts people are experiencing when they go through my program and work with me one-on-one to fine-tune marketing messages and strategy.
When things like this this happen I know I’m truly using my GIFTS, I’m also BEING the gift. This feels really good to the soul. It brings new meaning to the word “GIFTED” and it also means I’m attracting the right clients who are interested in marketing with integrity. It’s really powerful to have a gift and to give a gift and even more magical when you’re actually gifted. Think about THAT.
